Patrick Moore

Cellist

Patrick Moore (cellist) is a musician of diverse interests who has performed as a chamber
musician, soloist, orchestral musician, and improviser throughout the United States, Asia, and
Europe. He is also a dedicated cello teacher, and teaches at the University of St.Thomas and at
Houston’s AFA.

Patrick is a founding member of the Axiom Quartet which is the Quartet-In-Residence at The
University of St.Thomas and is also the outreach ambassador for Chamber Music Houston.
Recently, the quartet signed with the record label PARMA and toured their new album
“Axioms-Moments of Truth” across China in the summer of 2018. In addition, they also
participate in Harmony in the Air where they perform 50 concerts every year at Bush
Intercontinental Airport.

As an orchestral musician, he performs with Opera in the Heights and Houston’s Latin
Philharmonic as their Assistant Principal cellist. An avid new music player, he enjoys playing
with Aperio New Music Ensemble, Musiqa New Music Ensemble, and Foundation for Modern
Music. He also performs as an improviser with the Frontier Jazz Orchestra.
Patrick has also been performing solo cello works with several ballet companies in Houston
including Frame Dance Company, Uptown Dance company, and the Creative Minds
Collaborative. Creative Minds Collaborative recently engaged Patrick as a soloist in a tour of
Japan to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the city of Chiba and Houston as sister cities.
Patrick Moore received a Bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University, and a Master’s degree
from Rice University. His principal teachers were Lynn Harrell, Jeffrey Noel Lastrapes, Alex
Ezerman, and Barbara Haffner. He has participated in masterclasses with Brinton Smith, Carter
Enyeart, Nathaniel Rosen, Norman Fischer, Timothy Eddy, Katinka Klein, and Christopher
French.
